"lead hung on a string to show the vertical line," early 14c., from Old French *plombe, plomee "sounding lead," and directly from Late Latin *plumba, originally plural of Latin plumbum "lead (the metal), lead ball; pipe; pencil," a word of unknown origin, related to Greek molybdos "lead" (dialectal bolimos) and perhaps from an extinct Mediterranean language, perhaps Iberian.
Called Atomic plumbing after kitchen was flooded with water the evening before, was given a time a technician would be out. Technician Jimmy Powell showed up early and after checking problem He went right to work. He stated he would have to cut a hole in the ceiling to get to the the drain. After some careful measurements his cut was right on target. Jimmy fixed the problem and was a true professional from start to finish. I wouldn't hesitate to call Atomic Plumbing for any plumbing needs, and would highly recommend Jimmy Powell as the technician.
Top notch service -- rapid response too!Had a leaky pipe to a washing machine. Called Atomic Plumbing at 8 AM -- they arrived at my house on time and less than 2 hours after my initial call to them. James & Paul were my technicians. Professional, polite, efficient and skilled, they rapidly replaced dated water valves and -- I must say, they did a great job. The repairs not only are functional, but they look great, too!I especially was impressed with the method of pricing. They assess your issue, then provide a flat-fee repair price before any work is done. Their prices are reasonable with no surprises.Highly recommend this company if you want it done right the first time by professionals.
Average Americans work well into their 60s, so workers might as well have a job that’s enjoyable and a career that's fulfilling. A job with a low stress level, good work-life balance and solid prospects to improve, get promoted and earn a higher salary would make many employees happy. Here's how Plumbers job satisfaction is rated in terms of upward mobility, stress level and flexibility.
Most typical single family home systems won't require supply piping larger than 3⁄4 inch (19 mm) due to expense as well as steel piping's tendency to become obstructed from internal rusting and mineral deposits forming on the inside of the pipe over time once the internal galvanizing zinc coating has degraded. In potable water distribution service, galvanized steel pipe has a service life of about 30 to 50 years, although it is not uncommon for it to be less in geographic areas with corrosive water contaminants.
Specialized plumbing tools include pipe wrenches, flaring pliers, pipe vise, pipe bending machine, pipe cutter, dies, and joining tools such as soldering torches and crimp tools. New tools have been developed to help plumbers fix problems more efficiently. For example, plumbers use video cameras for inspections of hidden leaks or problems, they use hydro jets, and high pressure hydraulic pumps connected to steel cables for trench-less sewer line replacement.
Get a minimum of three bids. Estimates for an average-sized job should be within a few hundred dollars. Be suspicious of anything that is substantially lower or double the price of the rest, and watch out for hidden fees, like charges for travel expenses. They could be signs of a home improvement scam. A good plumber will not nickel and dime you like this, and many of us will offer free estimates.

My hot water heater needed replacement. Deanna was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and most helpful. She scheduled my appointment and James M. and Aaron arrived exactly on time. They were professional and had the job done in no time! Although it was a bit more expensive than I was expecting, the service was excellent. Thank you for a job well done.

It's a little awkward, so we'll get straight to the point: This Thursday we humbly ask you to defend Wikipedia's independence. We depend on donations averaging about $16.36, and only ask you for one gift a year. But most of our readers in the U.S. are not responding to our messages. If everyone reading this gave $2.75, we could keep Wikipedia thriving for years to come. The price of your Thursday coffee is all we need. When we made Wikipedia a non-profit, people warned us we'd regret it. But if Wikipedia were commercial, it would be a great loss to the world. Wikipedia unites all of us who love knowledge: contributors, readers and the donors who keep us thriving. We had a leak under the kitchen sink & called Atomic Plumbing. They sent someone over that same day. They sent an email appointment confirmation & kept us posted both via email & telephone on the status of our appointment & expected arrival of the plumber. Our plumber was Don Richards. He was very pleasant and professional. He used protective covering on his shoes & went over the cost of the repair. He fixed the leak in no time and did not leave a mess at all. Very impressive. Thanks for the outstanding service Atomic Plumbing!
Much of the plumbing work in populated areas is regulated by government or quasi-government agencies due to the direct impact on the public's health, safety, and welfare. Plumbing installation and repair work on residences and other buildings generally must be done according to plumbing and building codes to protect the inhabitants of the buildings and to ensure safe, quality construction to future buyers. If permits are required for work, plumbing contractors typically secure them from the authorities on behalf of home or building owners.[citation needed]
